Summer vacation is over, but we haven’t been spending the last couple months at the beach (well not most of it anyway!). As you may have noticed, we released a small update earlier this week that fixes an issue with Cram Fighter running on the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. This was just a minor update, but we have several big features in the pipeline. We will be making some announcements in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

Some of our users have let us know about a problem that affects people running iOS4 on the iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4. iOS 4 introduced a form of multitasking that makes apps go into the background when you close them. The bug appears when Cram Fighter resumed from this background state and it wouldn’t realize that several days could have passed. This would cause certain information to display incorrectly. We’ve fixed this problem and submitted updates of all of our apps to Apple and they should be available to you in a couple of days. Thanks to all of our users that helped us diagnose and fix this problem!

Our updates for the USMLE Step 1 Edition, USMLE Step 2 CK Edition, and NCLEX-RN Edition were all released today. We recommend downloading these new updates as soon as you can, as they add support for iOS 4. We’ve also added some new books to the USMLE Step 1 Edition and fixed some bugs in the USMLE Step 2 CK Edition. Let us know if you run into any problems.

The upcoming iOS 4 introduces some changes that causes Cram Fighter to not function correctly. We recently submitted updates to all of our apps that allow them work on iOS 4. If you are going to use the iPhone 4 or iOS 4 on a previous version of the iPhone or iPod Touch, you will need to download the updated version of Cram Fighter, which will be out shortly. Keep an eye on this blog for when these updates are released!

We did it! The third app in the Cram Fighter family is finally ready for the world. We submitted Cram Fighter: NCLEX-RN Edition to Apple, and if all goes as planned, you should see it in the App Store in a matter of days. The app features over 35 books and two question banks and we hope it makes preparing for the NCLEX just a little less stressful. Since this is our first app for the nursing profession, we could use every little suggestion you have. You can send suggestions directly through the app or you can use our contact page.

As you might have noticed, our homepage has added another menu item: the NCLEX-RN Edition. This will be our first non-USMLE app and we’re super excited to branch into new areas. We’re in the middle of adding the most popular NCLEX-RN books to the app, so now’s a great time to tell us about any books you use to prepare for this exam. If you’re here for the USMLE, we still have your back. After we get the NCLEX-RN Edition out, we plan to release new updates for the Step 1 and Step 2. We’ll have more details soon, so please keep checking back. Or even better, add this blog to your favorite RSS reader!

If you’ve been using our apps for a while, you’ve probably noticed that we recently added a new tab called “Calendar” to our interface. This new tab represents one of the biggest features we’ve ever added to Cram Fighter: the monthly calendar view. The calendar view gives you an easy way to get a “big picture” view of your schedule. The calendar view shows you what subjects you will be covering each day and what the rest of the month looks like. It even displays your vacation and catch-up days. The calendar is also a great way to quickly jump to different days of your schedule. Just tap on any day that falls within your schedule and you will be instantly taken to that day in the Study Schedule view. We’re really excited about this new feature and we hope you are too. Tell us what you think!

A new monthly calendar view, Kaplan Lecture Notes 2009, Kaplan Home Study Program…it just goes on and on! What are you waiting for? Buy it now from the App Store! Or, if you already own it, update to the latest version for free using iTunes.
We’ll post more details about the monthly view after we get the new Step 2 CK Edition out later this week. For now, play around with the new features and tell us what you think.
